Acceptance of Terms
By downloading, installing, accessing, or using ScreenRewards ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the App. These terms apply to parent and child use of the service.
Description of Service
ScreenRewards is a family screen-time and chore management application. It allows parents or guardians to create chores, assign screen-time rewards, review task completions, and configure device restrictions such as scheduled locks and daily usage limits. The App uses supported iOS and Android device controls to help grant or restrict access to apps and device features based on a child's earned balance and family settings.
Eligibility and Parental Responsibility
ScreenRewards is intended for use by families. To create a parent account, you must be at least 18 years of age or the age of majority in your place of residence, whichever is higher. By creating child profiles, the parent or guardian:
- Confirms they have the legal authority to manage the child's device and digital activity.
- Accepts responsibility for all chore definitions, reward settings, and device restrictions configured within the family account.
- Agrees to use the App in a manner that is fair, appropriate, and in the best interest of the child.
ScreenRewards is a tool to assist parents — it does not replace parental judgment. Parents remain responsible for appropriate screen-time decisions for their children.
Permitted Use
You may use ScreenRewards for personal, non-commercial family use only. You agree not to:
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable laws.
- Attempt to reverse engineer, modify, or tamper with the App or its enforcement mechanisms.
- Use the App to harass, harm, or unfairly restrict a child in ways that constitute abuse or neglect.
- Share your account credentials with anyone outside your immediate family.
- Upload or submit content, including photo proof, that is unlawful, abusive, exploitative, or infringes the rights of others.
Screen Time Enforcement
ScreenRewards uses native device APIs (iOS Screen Time / Android parental controls) to enforce time limits. Enforcement effectiveness depends on the capabilities of the operating system and device. We do not guarantee that restrictions cannot be circumvented through device resets, OS updates, or other means outside our control.
We are not responsible for any consequences arising from the failure of device-level enforcement outside the normal operation of the App.
User Content and Photo Proof
Parents and children may create task records, notes, and optional photo proof within the App. You retain responsibility for the content you submit and for ensuring that you have the right to submit it. By submitting content through ScreenRewards, you grant us a limited right to host, store, process, and display that content solely as needed to operate the service for your family.
Account and Data
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorised use of your account. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us at sampath@dassanayake.name. Where available, account deletion tools provided inside the App may delete account or family data directly. If you are the owner of a family account, deleting that account may also delete child profiles, chore history, and related family data managed through the service.
Intellectual Property
All content, design, trademarks, and software in ScreenRewards are owned by or licensed to us. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the App for personal family use. No other rights are granted.
Disclaimer of Warranties
ScreenRewards is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement, to the extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or immune from delays, outages, or device or platform changes outside our control.
Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of or inability to use ScreenRewards, including damage to devices, loss of data, loss of profits, or reliance on chore, screen-time, or enforcement features.
Our total liability for any claim arising out of these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid for the App in the twelve months preceding the claim.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms of Use from time to time. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. We will provide notice of material changes via the App or by email.
International Use and Governing Law
ScreenRewards may be offered in multiple countries or regions. You are responsible for complying with the laws that apply to you in your location. These Terms are governed by the laws of Australia, without regard to its conflict of law provisions, except where mandatory consumer protections in your local jurisdiction apply and cannot lawfully be excluded.
Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Australia, except where applicable law gives you the right to bring a claim in another forum.
